somewhere in someone's heart lies the key to my door
beyond which is heaven i've only glimpsed before
where love is life itself, bridging the gaps in me
as close to perfection as chance would let it be

like a whiff of fragrance that wafted through the air
too faint, swiftly faded, yet certain it was there
my soul is a rosebud awaiting the right spring
to bloom and face the sky, unfolding wing by wing

i seek my sun amongst the pantheon of stars
my guardian chosen from the angels' avatars
with every breath we'll take, i'll feel my heartbeat's twin
and know a rhythm meant to soothe the beast within

she is out there, somewhere, the sea of my river
into her i shall flow, my heart's and soul's keeper
to ride on buoyant arms, until the farthest shore
and drown in moonlit eyes, deep as the ocean floor
